UPDATED - 1/6/2021
Happy New Year! As we enter 2021, we are excited to announce that our Harvest family will be able to be back together in person, beginning on January 19th. Our online classes will resume on January 11th. We will not have classes on January 18th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
As we prepare to re-open, we want to remind you of our policies in place for all students, parents, and staff on campus. Please view this video link to see more details of our re-entry plan.
January 2021 Re-Entry Plan
The most recent DPHSS guidelines for school reopening contains a significant change in classroom layout and requires that students maintain a 6 foot minimum distance between other students. This change from the August guidelines of 4 feet requires that Harvest move to an A/B schedule for second semester. We are working out the logistics with scheduling, but we plan to keep families together on the same day for in person classes, across grade levels.
We will be able to have in person instruction every day for K3 to K5.
For 1st through 12th grade students, we know that a revised schedule raises many questions, and we will communicate more specific details for each grade level, as soon as they are finalized. Families with an A schedule will have in-person classes on Monday and Thursday, and families with a B schedule will have in-person classes on Tuesday and Friday. All students will be online on Wednesday, which allows for a deep-clean on campus and simultaneous instruction to the entire class. For the students that are online while the other students are on campus, the teachers will provide zoom links to join the class. This will allow all students to keep pace with the content provided in class throughout the week. The following chart illustrates the A/B schedule for 1st through 12th grade.
If you are interested in keeping your student(s) fully online and not participating in face-to-face classes, we will need you to sign a form, committing to online for the entirety of second semester. This option is only recommended for students who are off-island, or unable to attend in-person classes due to medical restrictions. Please email Lindsay Nagengast, Lindsay.Nagengast@hbcguam.net, to receive the online form. All online forms are due back to Lindsay Nagengast by Monday, January 11.
