Harvest Writers Reach New Heights

YAC Winners

Top writers from this year’s YAC competition

The English department has seen some fantastic work from the students at Harvest this year, and we wanted to share a few of their accolades with you. This has been one of our best years for our Young Authors Competition (YAC). Judging took longer than normal as we looked over several entries that showed mastery in writing. We thought you might like to take a look at the winning work from Megan McCann (short story winner 7th-12th), Claire McGrew (poetry winner 9th-12th), and Valerie San Luis (essay winner 9th-12th).

Another high honor this year came from the National Council of Teachers of English, who awarded junior Meghan Larkin with a certificate of superior writing based on her two submitted writing samples. Meghan is one of 264 high school students in the U.S. and the only student on Guam receiving this award this year. We as a department are so proud of these students who are developing their God-given talents in writing, and we look forward to continuing this theme of excellence next year.

Special thanks to Ahyen Madrid (Faith Bookstore) and May Camacho (BestSellers) for sponsoring our contest another year. We are grateful to these former school parents for their continued desire to invest in our current and future students.
