High School Basketball Coach - Boys
Stephen Yates has been heavily involved in athletics his entire life. An avid golf, soccer, and basketball player in high school, Stephen continued his athletics in college by playing four years of intramural basketball and soccer at Bob Jones University. He was introduced to intercollegiate volleyball when he attended grad school at Northland International University. Since his arrival at Harvest in 2011, he has assisted in coaching both boy's and girls’ golf, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Since 2013, he has been the head coach of the high school boy's basketball team. Stephen has also been the assistant coach for the men’s basketball team for the University of Guam.
High School Basketball Coach - Girls
Lawrence Nagengast is the High School Principal at Harvest Christian Academy. He played both soccer and basketball through high school and college. He coached high school boy's junior varsity basketball at HCA starting in 2011. In 2014, he transitioned to head coach of the high school girls’ varsity basketball team. Lawrence has also coached high school golf at HCA for three seasons.
Middle School Basketball Coach - Girls
Joshua Taylor has taught 6th grade at Harvest Christian Academy and has also coached the middle school boy’s basketball team since 2002. He has been an instructor at numerous basketball camps during the summers while on Guam. Josh is also involved with Harvest House, a local non-profit organization that provides help to foster children.
HS Volleyball Coach - Boys
Brandon is a graduate of Harvest Christian Academy and has seen our sports program grow into a competitive program in the IIAAG. As a student at Harvest, Brandon was on the basketball, volleyball, cross-country, and soccer teams. Brandon is an art and life skills teacher here at Harvest Christian Academy. He has also been the high school junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach for the boys’ volleyball team for the past eight years. Brandon will be stepping into the role of head coach of the high school boys’ volleyball team, who are coming off an undefeated season winning the IIAAG championships in 2017.
High School Volleyball Coach - Girls
Kylon Eckert is a decorated former HCA athlete, Kylon played Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Division II volleyball at Northland Baptist Bible College from 2005-2009. As the starting libero for the Guam Men’s National Volleyball team, Kylon earned two gold medals in the Micronesian Games in 2010 and 2014. He has coached at all levels of volleyball at Harvest Christian Academy since 2010, and is currently the head coach for the high school girls volleyball team.
MS Volleyball Coach - Boys
Matthew Noland is the Athletic Director at Harvest Christian Academy. A multi-sport athlete through high school in Canada, Matthew played college volleyball in the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference for Maranatha Baptist University from 2014-2017. Maranatha won the WVC championships in 2017, and as the captain of Maranatha’s team, Matthew was awarded two all-conference awards in 2016 and 2017 as well as being awarded the WVC divisional MVP award in 2017. Matthew has previously coached high school girls' volleyball in Wisconsin. He is currently the coach for the middle school boys' volleyball team and the JV coach for the high school boys volleyball team at Harvest.
Middle School Volleyball Coach - Girls
Heather White is the high school girls Physical Education & Health teacher. She played volleyball in high school, and softball and volleyball in college. She started coaching at Harvest in 2016 as an assistant coach for both high school and middle school girls volleyball. Currently, Heather is an assistant coach for middle school girl's intramural softball, high school girl’s volleyball JV coach, and middle school girls volleyball head coach.
High School Soccer Coach - Boys
Kun Ho Rhee has been a well-known coach in the Guam soccer community for many years. After playing NCAA Division II soccer at Pierce College in Los Angeles, California, he continued his soccer career by playing on the Guam Men's National team at the South Pacific Games at Suva, Fiji. Coach Rhee has intermittently coached for the Guam National team U-14, U-19 and Men's teams. He holds a B and C coaching license from the Asian Football Confederation and has coached high school boys' soccer for JFK, FD, and most recently HCA. After becoming the boy's high school coach at Harvest, Coach Rhee led the Harvest team to two back-to-back finals in 2014 and 2015.
HS Girls and MS Boys Soccer Coach
Jeremy Wendal has a Level C AFC Coaching License, and has been heavily involved in Harvest’s soccer program since 2013. He coached the middle school boy's team to a 2nd place finish in 2014, followed by an undefeated championship season in 2015. Jeremy also currently serves as an assistant coach for the high school boy's team and is also the high school girl's head coach.
Middle School Soccer Coach - Girls
A competitive high school and college soccer player, Katie Wendal has been a part of the HCA girl's soccer program since her arrival in 2011. Katie has a level C AFC coaching license. She has been an assistant coach for the high school girl's soccer team since 2011, and has been the head coach of the middle school girl's soccer team since 2014.
High School Cross Country Coach - Boys & Girls
Kris Hurlburt is the school health counselor at Harvest Christian Academy. Since 2012 she has been heavily involved in assistant coaching for both the High School and Middle School Cross Country teams. In the 2016-2017 she took over head coaching for the high school team. Kris is also an avid runner and an active participant in the Guam running community.
Middle School Cross Country Coach - Boys & Girls
Kristen Lloyd is a sixth grade teacher at Harvest Christian Academy. Since 2013, she has served as assistant coach for the Harvest high school cross country team and head coach for our middle school cross country team. Kristen has brought her extensive intercollegiate softball experience to head coach our HISL middle school girl's softball program.
Golf & Tennis
High School Golf Coach - Boys & Girls
Nathan D. Kang has been a member of PGA America since 2010. He has been an instructor for KPGA, KLPGA—elite junior golfers in Korea and the U.S. He has worked as a golf pro for resorts such as Coyote Creek Golf Club, Mission Inn Gold Resort, Mike Bender Golf Academy, and Jack Nicklaus Golf Academy. He is presently the Director of Golf at Nathan Kang Golf Institute. During his first season as head coach for the Harvest Christian Academy high school golf team in 2015, he led the girl's team to a 2nd place finish, and the boy's team to a 1st place finish in the IIAAG.
High School Tennis Coach - Boys & Girls
Cliff Paulin has been an avid tennis player for over 20 years. An HCA alumni, Cliff has been coaching the Eagle’s tennis team since 2005. Under his leadership, either a HCA boys’ or girls’ team has placed in the top three for 10 consecutive IIAAG seasons. Cliff is also actively involved in the Guam tennis community during the off season.
